Actually, they only announced tape out in August. According to Charlie, they taped out A-0 in June.
If you look at my time line, which I constructed from a number of various stories done on the subject, it sounds like they already taped out A-1 in August, which is the same stepping they used for the demo last month.
If you put everything on a consistent timeline, it all adds up, and I think your assumptions in your more simplistic view are probably off just a bit.
Even so, my same analysis came to a similar conclusion, if only a tad more optimistic. A Q2 launch is very unlikely, but I still think Q3 is the most likely time frame, followed by Q4. A Q1 2008 launch is almost as unlikely as Q2 2007.
