actually Aireys and Hog, Petar's AF explanation is the first thing that really makes plausible sense concerning the whole twilight zone sequence of events including all the AF PRs, including "date certain" and the whole nine yards. It's really kind of comforting to me that they were so inept. Any other explanation is way too sinister.
