I THINK THE FIX IS IN AGAIN, GUYS
I find it very fascinating how everything seems to be lining up behind the scenes right now to see Congress/Mitch give the green light for the federal legalization of CBD products, most likely by creating an exemption in the FDCA for CBD to be legally sold as a food additive and dietary supplement
Getting some powerful deja vu from 2018 when the fix was in for Federal Hemp & CBD Legalization
I’ve already written a much longer post in my head to convey this theory
I just don’t have the time right now to post it all here
But I will post a much longer version of this summary of “The Fix” in the future, if there is any real interest in me doing so
HERE’S THE FIX...
USDA publishes their comprehensive regulations for hemp as quickly as possible — to go from scratch to 170 pages of federal regulations in 9 months is warp speed for any federal agency in this situation
FDA delays putting out their report
Trump unexpectedly removes apolitical and big pharma-phile Dr. Sharpless prematurely from his tenure as Acting FDA Commissioner
Trump installs admin-friendly and CBD-friendly Admiral Dr. Giroir in his place as Acting Commissioner
Trump promptly nominates complete outsider who couldn’t be any less attached to big pharma, Dr. Hahn from Texas, as permanent FDA Commissioner
Dr. Hahn’s Senate Confirmation Hearing is rushed onto the calendar
Dr. Hahn’s actual vote for confirmation is rushed as well — he will be officially confirmed within 2-3 weeks
***TBA — Mitch legalizes CBD as a food additive and dietary supplement ASAP — most sensible vehicle is 2020 Appropriations Bill for Agriculture due in Mid-Dec — if they can’t make that happen at the end of the legislative calendar in 2019 due to border wall/impeachment issues not allowing for any new legislation to be attached to Appropriations Bills due to the necessity of using Continuing Resolutions (CRs), then the most logical next legislative vehicle for Legalization of CBD in Foods and Dietary Supplements is The SAFE Banking Act, which can also serve as the vehicle for all legislative fixes to USDA Regs as well — that looks like a Feb/March event right now
