Dew, this looks like an important new study which unfortunately is not yet available (the December issue of the Journal of American Medicine in not online yet through Science Direct). It will be important to examine the details of this report when it comes out. In the interest of balance, I would also highlight another important quote from the Reuters article you cited:
"This does not mean that drug-eluting stents should not be used, as other studies have shown that they do significantly reduce the need for repeat procedures compared with bare metal stents," added Bhatt, associate director of the clinic's Cardiovascular Coordinating Center and one of the study's authors.
The obstacle to discovery is the illusion of knowledge.
