Trump attacks whistleblower during Scalia swear in

Second whistleblower in Trump-Ukraine scandal comes forward: lawyer

To Trump: To see you condemn Schiff for "making things" up is to see you condemning yourself for making things up. You are a fraud.

(30 Sep 2019) Lawyer Eugene Scalia, a son of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, was sworn in Monday as President Donald Trump's new labor secretary.

The Senate voted along party lines last Thursday to approve Scalia's nomination. Republicans said his background in labor and employment law made him qualified for the post.

Democrats said Scalia fought for corporations and against workers and was the wrong candidate for the Cabinet post.

In remarks in the Oval Office just before the ceremonial swearing in, Trump said he hopes Scalia will be the best Labor Secretary "of all time."

For his part, Scalia thanked Trump for the opportunity hold a position in an administration "with a president who's willing to try things that are different, not necessarily conventional."

As Trump was walking out of the Oval, he told reporters the White House is "trying to find out" the identity of the whistleblower, whose complaint is at the heart of the impeachment proceedings.

The whistleblower told Congress Trump tried to pressure the president of Ukraine to investigate the son of Democrat Joe Biden.

Trump said again Monday that the statement he made during his conversation with the Ukrainian president was "perfect." But he insisted the whistleblower "reported a totally different statement, like the statement, it was not even made."

His comments follow a series of tweets over the weekend and on Monday complaining that the whistleblower was "fake" and suggested the people leading the probe should be arrested and charged with treason.
