many of those who opposed the deal see Trump as doing the wrong thing in withdrawing from it.

Yep, Trump has shown himself to be excellent at creating "a huge, colossal screw up for no purpose at all", and so creating a new
situation in which people worldwide, including himself, have to waste much time, resources and money trying to clean his mess up.
