Though, judging solely on Ian Reifowitz's excellent article, it seems Metzi's book left religion (at least relatively) out of the mix i kept thinking of similarities between political ideology and religion. The unquestioning devotion involved in being stuck in both as guessing most all who think (or don't think) like Trevor likely are.

"Review: 'Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment Is Killing America's Heartland'"

On reading of Trevor,

"“Trevor voiced a literal willingness to die for his place in [the racial] hierarchy, rather than participate in a system that might put him on the same plane as immigrants or racial minorities.”"

i kept thinking of the 'give me a child until 7 and i give you the man' idea. Saint
Ignatius of Loyola .. https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Ignatius_of_Loyola, Voltaire or Aristotle ..

"It works" for advertisers too.

I'm guessing this is the same Ian Reifowitz - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Reifowitz .

Back to the good old days of whiteness and white culture even economists are getting that into their articles now,

The Frauding of America’s Farmers
[...]
At one level, it’s not hard to see why farmers supported Trump. Hostility to nonwhite immigrants was central to his campaign, and such hostility tends to be highest in places where there aren’t actually many immigrants .. https://www.cnn.com/2017/08/22/politics/immigration-trump-arizona/index.html . So rural America, with its still tiny immigrant population .. https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2018/05/22/demographic-and-economic-trends-in-urban-suburban-and-rural-communities/ , was a receptive audience for his fear-mongering. More generally, Making America Great Again — which was basically about setting back the clock racially and culturally — was a message that played well in places that still tend to think of themselves (and are told by politicians to think of themselves) as the Real America, as opposed to the big metropolitan areas where most Americans actually live.

so there is no doubt race is an important factor in most all things of America. And, sadly, worldwide.

The above feels disjointed and wandering, but anyway, an excellent article by Reifowitz. Thanks.

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
