In a perfect system that's what definitely should have happened but it clearly didn't.

Remember that the FDIC tried this same scam with the sale of Wachovia to CITI.

They attempted to gift those assets to CITI but Wells stepped in and stopped the deal.

In our case we weren't so lucky, meaning it seems JPM got away with it all free and clear.
