Silicon Investor…

…has an old message board for GTCB, which was active in the days when Genzyme owned a large chunk and the ticker was GZTC:

In late 1999 and early 2000, when the stock price reached $30-50, many posters on the board were wildly bullish. But, alas, the bubble burst and the stock price returned to reality; the last post on the board occurred in mid 2002.

About a year ago, unaware that an old board existed, I established a GTCB board on SI using the new ticker:

However, this new board has generated little or no interest from the posters on SI and it consists mostly of links to iHub.

Why is all this worth mentioning? Because many of the posters who loved GTC at $30-50 in 1999-2000 are regular posters on SI today who are generally held in high regard (perhaps undeservedly). Now that GTC has an approved drug and is selling for one-tenth of the valuation it had 6-7 years ago (even after adjusting for the larger number of shares outstanding), these biotech sages evidently have no interest in the company.

Go figure.
