blauboad, We can almost declare Yamhill dead. It would already have developers working on it and rumors all over the place if it were really on the map for 2004--NDA or not. And AMD64 compatibility is just not Intel's style.
I totally agree with you except for the above. Intel is not shy of changing their style unless it doesn't hurt their earnings. Also, if they go with IA64 I don't think it's possible to show impressive performance at a reasonable price. IA64 has only good floating point performance and the desktop applications which should take advantage of it should be ready by 2005 or 2009 according to Intel's recent plans.
