There is no LAW. But many institutions have a charter in place that prevents the money managers to invest in stocks under $10 or $5 or $1.

Sometimes there are even more specific restrictions--such as minimum daily trading volumes.

Successful Trading is the art of minimizing long term risk and maximizing capital allocation.
