If you really want the answer, I suggest you read "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow. It goes over Hamiltons reasoning as he promoted ratification of the new constitution. Chernows attention to detail and exhaustive research makes this a valid source of information. It's a cradle to the grave bio and well worth the read.
