I'll continue to use that date as a milestone

That's fine with me. Most important is that it is clear now how this "trend" is determined, and that it has nothing to do with Technical Analyses, but that it is just a line between two points.

A little bit like somebody walking crisscross through a room until somebody says "Stop!". Then marks the spot and says "walk!" again.
After a few steps says "stop!", steps in and draws a line from the first point to the second point and then comes to the conclusion "The trend is that you are walking in this direction", while ignoring all the other movements that show that it isn't possible to determine a trend.
