High-grade gold boost for Strickland Metals

Strickland Metals Ltd managing director Paul L’Herpiniere talked with Proactive about a significant upgrade to the company’s resource at its Rogozna project in Serbia. The latest resource update follows 20,000 metres of drilling in 2023, which delivered an increase of two million ounces gold equivalent. “I can't think of many projects on the planet that you can get this sort of growth for $3 an ounce,” L’Herpiniere said. He highlighted the success of targeted drilling at the Shanac deposit, where only 10 holes were drilled, resulting in a strong uplift in contained metals – including a 17% increase in gold and 38% in copper. Importantly, the drilling delineated high-grade mineralisation zones, which L’Herpiniere said will be the focus of upcoming mining studies. Strickland has now commenced a 50,000 metre drill program, with 30,000 metres allocated to resource drilling at Shanac and Gradina. Gradina, described as the most gold-rich of the four deposits, is expected to deliver a maiden resource later in 2025. The remaining 20,000 metres will target major exploration prospects, including Jezerska Reka and Obradov Potok. With approximately A$30 million in cash and strong geological potential, L’Herpiniere said the company is well positioned for further growth. Trevi Therapeutics advances cough treatment pipeline, eyes key clinical milestones

Trevi Therapeutics CEO Jennifer Good joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the company’s progress in advancing its cough treatment pipeline using nalbuphine, a mixed agonist-antagonist opioid. Originally developed for acute indications, nalbuphine is now being repurposed due to its dual mechanism of action, working both peripherally in the lungs and centrally in the brainstem, offering a novel approach to treating chronic cough disorders. Trevi initially explored multiple indications, including skin conditions caused by severe itching and neurological cough. However, compelling clinical data led the company to focus on cough-related indications. Good explained, “We thought our drug was different because not only does it work peripherally in the lung, it works centrally at the brain, which mediates coughing and breathing.” The company is now targeting three key areas: interstitial lung diseases (including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, or IPF), refractory chronic cough (RCC), and other neurological cough conditions. Following promising Phase 2a results in RCC—an area where many previous drug candidates have failed—Trevi is preparing for a Phase 2b dose-ranging study. If successful, only one pivotal study may be required before regulatory filing. St George Mining unveils major JORC resource

St George Mining Ltd executive chairman John Prineas talked with Proactive about the company's newly announced maiden JORC resource, which he says could be among the world’s most significant niobium and rare earth deposits. Prineas said the deposit features over 500 intercepts of high-grade mineralisation and boasts a rare combination of high grades and shallow mineralisation starting at surface, supporting an open pit development. “We think, possibly the second highest niobium deposit in terms of grade and, probably one of the highest rare earth deposits,” he told Proactive. He confirmed the company has already seen interest from industry players, with some expressing interest in potential partnerships and even mergers. The resource was released following St George’s acquisition of the project in late February, and the company has committed to a drill program starting in the coming weeks. According to Prineas, this program could potentially double the existing resource. In Brazil, St George has assembled an experienced in-country team and engaged a global EPC contractor to progress mine development. Krakatoa’s antimony-gold find signals major upside

Krakatoa Resources Ltd chairman Colin Locke talked with Proactive about the company’s newly secured Zopkhito Project in Georgia, which he described as a major opportunity for investors. The project contains a JORC resource of 225,000 tonnes of high-grade antimony at 11% for 26,000 tonnes of metal, translating to a back-of-the-envelope valuation of approximately $1.30 billion based on current prices. Additionally, the project includes 7.1 million tonnes grading 3.7g/t gold for 815,000 ounces, estimated to be worth around $2.50 billion. Locke said, “This is touted to be the sixth biggest antimony project in the world.” The mineralisation is close to surface, and the company believes the resource has strong potential for expansion. He also highlighted the project’s additional gold content as another value driver. He attributed the company’s success in securing the project to its CEO and chief technical officer, Mark Major, whose experience in high-altitude exploration was a key factor for the local vendors. The project’s location in Georgia was described as highly investor-friendly, with a 15% corporate tax rate, no native title or land access complications, and strong support for foreign investment. Locke confirmed that a maiden drilling program is scheduled to begin shortly, with Major heading to Georgia next week to prepare.
