Reminds me of the first time I played golf with my wife - she had never played before.
At the first tee, she asked me what to do. I pointed to the first flag, and said: "try to hit the ball near that flag".
She landed the ball about 4 inches away from the flag!
When we got to the green, she asked what she should do now.
I told her to hit the ball into the hole.
She replied: "why didn't you say that before?"
