You're right. Most, guessing a majority, of Trump's supporters had decided experts and institutions who and
that had served America well were not to be trusted, long before Trump began to exploit that belief of theirs.

Trump with his lies has solidified their mistrust, of all and everything except him, even more in them.

If nothing else Trump has evolved into a successful cult leader. That has been Trump's greatest success.
