The count is up to 29 horses dead that are tied to the Santa Anita racetrack.

The latest is a 3-year-old filly named Truffalino that was pulled up before the finish of the third race Sunday. The jockey jumped off the horse and then she collapsed and died of an apparent heart attack.

The California Horse Racing Board asked for a shut down of the track but management refused and will finish the season that ends in late June.
