I grew up around high power executives and CEO's of a major oil company. I can assure you, a CEO's life is his job. Yes he or she may have a family, but they are not family men. The job is everything, they are on call 24/7. The reason that many CEOs don't appear to be the best is because in all reality they probably are not the "best" to do the job, they are just the "best" person who is willing to do the job.
