Yeah JL, we're on same page. Egyptian cotton coming on=board is good, all around. At this time, coverage is minimal thougy. Now we're assaying/ or just testing hand-picked Egyptian Cotton. This is good news, but at this time, we're limited to our FiberTyping® brand.
Was the same with Supima (San Joaquin California Pima Cotton). There (California/Arizon) it's been limited to sampling of strands from 500 pound bales. Never has added up to much for us.
Another distinction, US bales are created by large combine type harvesteers ($100s of thoudands each). The hand-picked caveat promoted by Egyptian Cotton Association kind of a pre-emptive warning, alerting us of LESS THAN modern harvesting standards.
My humple opinion.
Cotton Egypt trade association web page now has us (maybe) with limited acknowledgement. From their web site.
Our goal is to protect the Egyptian Cotton™ name from the inferior quality materials that are entering the market. We want to give consumers the reassurance that Egyptian Cotton™ is solely that, 100% pure with no additional blend. To do this, we are committed to being transparent about the entire process. Traceability is key, so by understanding the genomic fingerprint of the cotton, we can conduct DNA tests to ensure that every bit of the fibre is genuine.Link to full coverage @Egyptian Cotton Accredidation website
