Preciouslife1, I am diabetic. I went to a doctor for it in 2000.
My first pill was Metfromin. Metformin blocks the bodily process of turning healthy fats, like nuts, avacadops, meat and fish into glucose. Not being over weight i had to eat more carbohydrates for energy, and Type 2 diabetes is basically an allergy to high dense carbs, like wheat, rice potatoes and beans. So, my blood sugars went up.
Next, in 2004 the ADA< CDC or whoever lowered the acceptable levels of LDL cholesterol by 30 points(that was huge), same year Litigator came out in mass(wasn't that convenient for the drug companies. Well, statins raise blood sugars as well, so my diabetes got worse.
Then a year and a half ago I got on the Paleo diet, now on Keto. My doctor seemed alarmed. I was not on a statin, but a natural one, red rice yeast(so called natural, but over the counter). His first comment without seeing my blood results was that he might have to get me back on statins.
Diabetes is a listed cause of dementia. So statins, even if they work, which they don't, will make me more at risk for dementia because it raises my blood sugars.
Am I living in the twilight zone where doctors are here to kill me?
But, hey, some surgeries, joint replacements, etc are great. Just pills and vaccines are my concern.
