But why DID he hire Bolton? One of the few things he's been consistent about, at least since 2015, is that he didn't want to get involved in more pointless and dangerous wars in the Middle East. Did he think he could change Bolton's mind? Why hire someone who disagrees with you about something fundamental? Or did he not realize what Bolton was all about?
These are, of course, pointless questions, since he doesn't really think about anything.
