I would like to live off the dividends.

You are right this is a good way to go. If Fannie and Freddie were truly safe and sound I might be tempted to stay.

Heck, if the price kept rising and the dividends kept coming I would be in a sweet spot.

Or as you suggest, some other high dividend companies may be a good idea for diversification.
