I think what she means is that, she is wondering if she should do that so she can write off the losses this year, although maybe not. Maybe she is just scared, and i dont blame her. At least she is not down as much as i have been in the past on certain stocks.

I think the way i would look at it, especially if you were think about doing something like that, is the fact that, if you sell now, and rebuy for close to the same price or even a slightly lower price, well, then it resets your clock on taxes. I am definitely holding on to this stock for a year, because i know that in a year it will be at least worth a dollar. I have faith.
