My thoughts,

Whoever the candidate is has to be able to convince the moderate states that voted for Trump in 2016 and were ignored by Hillary.

That is one of the reasons Biden has jumped out in front of Bernie. Biden is a blue collar type of guy imo. Bernie would never sell in some of those states.

The other problem for the Democrats is the economy. Right now it is all smoke and mirrors due to the tax cuts, and slashing of regulations. But there is going to be a price to pay further down the road regarding the deficit and the environment.

Things like climate change, universal healthcare, gun control, education, jobs and fiscal responsibility should be part of the Democratic platform and they should be all a part of what a candidate offers.
