too bad AMD can't twist arm and make threats like Intel did when behind in performance.

That is a figment of the AMDroid mindset. It never happened in reality. What is real is the enormous performance gap that has now opened up and the effect it will eventually have on AMD's shareprice. What remains to be seen is how AMD will blame Intel for their failure to move forward.
