I think of I-Hub as the place where hubris and ignorance come together daily, lol. But I've been as guilty of that as anyone over the years.
It sounds like you learned early about the wisdom of asset allocation and index investing. Many of us had to get it drummed into our (thick) heads the hard way. It took me a lot of 'flailing a dead horse' (ie trading) to finally face up to reality.
Some people probably can't it give up because following stocks is their main hobby. But you can still follow companies, just don't allocate a lot of money into individual stocks or trading. 5% is my limit, so you can still have a fun hobby, but without the angst and losses :o)
