Chemistry
can be a beautiful thing.
And it can be our brains playing tricks on us.

The part of the brain that is driven towards survival independent of conscious will is wired to spot a partner with a very different immune system, with the goal of making babies that have a better chance of survival. And it's not overly concerned with whether we like this partner or not.

But maybe we do. And maybe we fall "in love."
It's pretty cool to be in love. And it's very disappointing when it fades.
But being in love can make some people kind of stupid, and crazy, and distracted. Dopamine explosion.
The world would be such a nice place if everyone was in love all of the time, but there's a chance we wouldn't have survived as a species (i.e. picking daisey's and being eaten by tigers instead of focusing on hunting and gathering.) No one left to have all those babies.

Not really sure why
it doesn't last.
Maybe if we adjust, not lower, our expectations to what real (not chemical) love can be, it would be far from disappointing.:)
