Hi Cj. I don't mean to sound like some militia member or that I don't love my country. That being said though, I feel that in a lot of ways we've lost the 'eye of the tiger'. Our troops are overextended in conflicts that perhaps could have been handled differently. Our govt assured us before Katrina that Fema had been revamped, reorganized and was very, very ready to handle the disaster. # days later, that assurnace was ripped to shreds.Citizens of one of the most powerful countires on earth were aboslutely defenseless within our own borders, facing armed thugs with no police or army. These are stories we commonly hear about far less developed nations, not our own.
Today on the news was another warning sign, under-reported as usual. There is talk about Bush meeting with GM, ford etc about a bailout. Cavuto asked the mayor of detroit why they might need a bailout when Japanese companies were doing great making cars here. The mayor said because 'they' don't have massive, underfunded pensions.
Think about it, we already know social security has a problem, now you are seeing the tip of the 'next' iceberg surface in large corporations.
Then dial in the growing gloabl warming factors, which the govt no longer tries to deny or minimize.
Bad weather factors will further strain the economy and food resources.
This will not all happen tomorrow, but it IS starting to happen already, no theory here.
Like the old story about how a frog won't hop out of the pot if you turn the heat up very slowly, the same is happening with our future.
