They can be useful only if SEARS becomes profitable again, which I believe that is the whole idea of Eddie Lampert.

Trim the fats, and re-organized the company in the age of Amazon.
Train and motivate the employees and they are back in business.

SEARS will surprise a lot of people sooner than we think.
