It doesn't work that way. Companies just don't give away money. The patents are going to be torn apart by Asus and if they are solid they will pay. If they are weak Asus will walk away.
Right now Mariner and Semcon are known in terms of their patent strength the others look really good but really we won't know until it moves through the courts. This is where Markman hearings (claim constructions) come in. These hearing decide what the terms in the patents actually mean. Is a processor really a processor, etc., That is the beauty of the Semcon patents they crushed their Markman hearing.
