The south side of the Bronx... yes. The north is Riverdale. It's a different world.
Then again, NYC is always reinventing itself. When the Manhattan neighborhoods are priced out of existence, the intrepid middle class finds areas to revive. The subway system makes travel to Manhattan (relatively) quick and easy. Parts of Brooklyn & Astoria (Queens), Washington Heights. Harlem is another example... from ritzy to disaster and now being refurbished... at least it was 20 years ago. Who the hell knows what's going on there now? de Blasio seems bent on destroying everything good about the city.
