You are very right Dan. Its my opinion that in many ways we have turned into a nation of sheep where nothing is anyones fault. Many of our fellow citizens think the lights will always be on and 7-11 stores will always have food on the shelves.
These people are woefully unprepared for what the world really is and how to defend ourselves against it.
There are some sad parallels between how many people hope terrorism will 'just go away' and the way the victors of WW I turned a blind eye as Hitler systematically violated provisions and they could have/should have stopped him right there and then.
Then we have all the whining about civil rights of terrorists who snicker to themselves at our lack of resolve.
Last but not least, the thiness of the illusion of our daily life was seen in new orleans, as the storm reduced them from civilization to anarchy in hours/days. Great lesson there, but I wonder how many of our fellow Americans got the point?
You CAN time the market!
But only after you trash the big 3 myths.
Myth 1 - its possible to get every point of every move
...Myth 2 - you'll never have a drawdown
......Myth 3 - you'll never have a loss
