"We were supposed to be a light unto the nations. In this we have failed."
IMO, this is where "Zionism" and even modern Judaism contradicts Biblical Judaism. We were supposed to be a "light unto the nations" yet Zionism is completely exclusive and as a result Judaism has become exclusive. "Light unto the nations" implies thorough inclusivity, an "evangelistic" approach, enlightening and the willingness to be enlightened. Zionism has indeed been villified globally for it's thorough exclusive and perceived racist ideology. No "Light" there! Zionism's evolution has perverted the original intent and too many Jews now confuse Zionism with Judaism. The two are very different, even mutually exclusive. Yet few Jews dare question whether Zionism indeed exemplifies racist exclusivity. Zionism is not "a light unto the nations". Americans have been brainwashed to believe Palestinians are bad. But evolutionary Zionism is a huge part of the problem, and we do not hear about that.
Golda and others dedicated their lives to "nation building" and a homeland for the Jewish people and they succeeded. I wonder if they are turning in their graves over the state of things today. They were "Zionists" but definately not "Likudniks" or "neocon-niks".
