Former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich blamed President Bush and the GOP for losing the election this week.
Gingrich made the comments at an appearance in north Fulton County on Thursday morning. The former Republican Congressman had praise for Gov. Sonny Perdue and Georgia's Republican party.
But he saved his harshest criticism for the national GOP leadership, saying four "C's" led to Tuesday's defeat: an absence of competence in Republican performance, an absence of candor, corruption and the bad advice of consultants.
It is believed Gingrich may make a run for the White House in 2008. But he may not receive the support he needs from Georgia.
A new Associated Press exit poll shows only 30 percent of Georgia voters think he would make a good president, while 63 percent say he wouldn't. Seven percent declined to answer.
