You’re wrong. Folks making 40-60k got a raise in their take home pay last year. Do you call these folks middle class or poor folks? Is a family making 70k a middle class to you?

A few weeks into the tax season and this is very much in line with what I'm seeing. That said, I look more at the total tax my clients pay rather than how big their refund is. I'm seeing about half of my clients pay less tax, a forth paying more and a forth seeing little or no change. The troubling thing to me is that the people who are paying less aren't paying very much less but the people who are paying more are paying A LOT more! The ones that are benefiting the most are people with young children, no children, and/or higher incomes. The ones that are hurt are people who work away from home, have older children, are marginal itemizers, and/or like to visit the casinos.
