so you would have employees of the same company you worked for and stood to benefit and had all the same bosses, verify that you invented something on a certain date?....i mean, only people with something to gain can attest to the veracity of the claim?...

It HAS been taken to court, and upheld , tens of thousands of times!
While you might not agree with all the patent lawyers of Bell Labs, IBM, RCA, and every other major research and manufacturing company in the world, so far their view has prevailed. I respectfully submit that you might benefit from a basic course of study in Intellectual Property law.
