I sort of agree with all that, but only up to a point. How many men in business, entertainment, or yes, even politics, are ever fully vetted? Consider how many were hit by the Me Too movement. Either they shouldn't have got the jobs they had, or should have lost them, but that wasn't going to happen until enough people spoke up.

It's not as if nobody knew about Trump's affairs, about which, until he was running for president, he bragged. But plenty of people knew he wasn't really a very good businessman, much less a Great Negotiator. They knew he wasn't really well educated, and had very little knowledge of or interest in anything unrelated to himself. They knew he had shady friends and business partners.

Sure, when he began his run, not as much information was available as is available now. But there was plenty that showed him to be a highly undesirable candidate for the presidency of the United States. The problem was that he identified and played to a base that didn't care what he was, what he'd done, or what he would do.

And so here we are...
