my hopes now lie with the billion dollar products that may be coming unrelated to opioids

Until there is a non addictive/non euphoric inducing effective pain killer
available opioids will be the pain management choice. There is NO getting around that fact.

So one can deal with the addiction to prescription opioids.... but the abuse of these same prescription opioids should be addressed. Abuse is the key here. As long as these prescription opioids are used for pain management (which they will for a long time) there will always be addiction. Addictions varies as to how predisposed the individual is to something. Coffee, cigarettes, alcohol...…….. prescription opioids.
