MM's are brokers, not traders. They don't 'buy' stock, they borrow it from other shareholders, then pay it back at the end of the day.
Otherwise, every 'trade' done by an MM would be subject to capital gains tax, since they would only be 'owners' of shares for microseconds.
Yes, I have ONCI stock, have had for over a year, still waiting for it to recover from where I bought it.
