I saw William Kristol, Weekly Standard, talking up Clark last night. I suppose they think they can "negotiate" their support in the up coming election. They are a powerful voting block though. They have the backing of the Southern Evangelicals (the largest religious group in the US and a powerful lobby), and Conservative Jews, as well as the ultra-conservative (dominant) media.
On the theory of "Anyone But Bush" maybe neocon support is not a bad thing. Clark, at least, has experience in international DIPLOMACY vis his NATO experience. The challenge for Clark will be to gain the support of these conservatives while keeping their hawkish aggressiveness in check. Clark is socially liberal with NATO experience.
We can HOPE for the best.
