tx - based upon comments from a former VP of marketing for several well known semiconductor companies, telcordia is not as credible as many here would like to think they are, but the point is - RIM paid them to do a test. They don't make judgements on what tests they run. If RIM wants a tech tested against a certainl level of VDSL2 product - they test it. As the consultant I doubt they would have much business if they challenged their paying clients on the tests they want done.
This of Labcorp. If my doctor orders a series of blood work, Labcorp does the tests, without comment. That's what my insurance company is paying for, and the tests ordered by the doctor are explicit. The lab would not say, "hey, based upon what you, the patient/client's symptoms (shared while in the waiting room) we think the doctor should have ordered test X Y or Z".
Telcordia did the testing that was ordered. They make no judgement are not held, and shouldn't be held accountable for the tests their clients pay for.
Of course Telcordia wouldn't do the testing for free. Why would anyone think they would?
What I seek is independent, unpaid, impartial test results. Telcordia by definition cannot provide that. Why can't RIM offer BETA/Engineering samples to several interested telcos and OEM vendors and why are those entities not sharing their experiences? Are they not testing product (for years?)? Brad told us many times in the past that their early stage products have been tested - for year - by interested parties.
