both nelson resources and chaparral resources, for example, had strong earnings performance due to production as well as significant p3 reserves... some questionable news releases definitely had a negative impact on pps just before their buy-outs by lukoil... later on though some confidential documents (recovered emails, for example) revealed that the ceo of chaparral, who had ties to lukoil management, was pressured into releasing negative news that would lower the pps so that lukoil could make a lowball offer...
there is currently a class-action suit right now which clearly illustrates how chaparral, for one, was manipulated in order to streamline the acquisition under lukoil terms... dcf, production, and reserve valuation of chaparral gave it values of over twice the offer price...
