I have zero problem with an investor's motives for shorting, they bear the risks for their decisions.
Only problem I have with any long or short is if they criminally publish falsehoods, spread malicious rumors knowing there is no basis in fact etc...
But to your question, the case in point of BW is a mixed deal, there are pros and cons, no doubt about it... but to just remain backward looking at the less than stellar stuff while giving no credence to the positive that he's accomplished is, I agree, a potential recipe for disaster.
