You:"I am more concerned about Warren's repeated assertions that she is a Native American"
Me: Please point out a few.
You: Here's someone who agrees with me.
I'm sorry, but your posted screed lacks substance. Liz Warren hasn't committed any of the gross appropriation Ms. Nagle suggests.
"Warren says that when she was growing up in Oklahoma, her family always told her that she's part Cherokee."
That is fucking it.
Here's a citation referred to in your article...
Genealogist Chris Child has been digging through the Census, birth and death records of Warren's family. Child eventually unearthed a document stating that Warren's great-great-great-grandmother was Native American. The document is from the woman's son.
"In 1894 on his application for a marriage license, he listed his father as Jonathan Houston Crawford and his mother as O.C. Sarah Smith, Cherokee Indian."
one thirty-secondth.... and nowhere a quote that she ever said differently, or that it was anything but what her family had always said.
Since I live in the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun area, I know folks. I can tell you that a thirty secondth doesn't get you on the bandroll anywhere. Doesn't get you Native preference.. There's no evidence that Liz Warren ever applied for either of those things.
For Liz Warren, it's a family oddity and at least one researcher says it checks out.
Now back to the original question... Show me "Warren's repeated assertions". Not someone else's claims, but the quotes, and we can discuss what she said.
