DO NOT trade around the Record Date
You mean "sell", not "trade"
It should be safe to buy shares between the record date and the ex date, at least if your mind-set is that those new shares will not have the TRW-shares, and then you might get the TRW-shares as a bonus (as you stated and also gave examples of; things aren't 100% certain)
