I've never been to Ft. Knox, myself.

I met Loretta Lynn's husband at Osan AB, Korea. I worked at the base protocol office, and Loretta broke her foot during the flight. We had an ambulance ready when her plane touched down. I wasn't high ranking enough to help her. lol Her husband (I believe his name was John???) is the same guy that was in the old Crisco commercial. Dressed in denim blue bib overalls and talked with as much southern twang as I've ever heard. While Ms. Lynn was at the hospital getting checked, we tried to keep him entertained in the vip room. He was a genuine good ole boy.


Broken foot and all, she still put on a concert as scheduled for the troops. I didn't attend, my boss told me it was a great concert.

edit: speaking of John Wayne? I went to his birthplace a couple of year's ago, only about 3 hrs away.
