I agree that people should be able to profit from any opportunity they see in the marketplace, but short-selling has some drawbacks, especially in the form of abuses that we have seen and suffered from. I would prefer that people use options (puts) to speculate on price drops. It would keep the markets more honest and transparent, in my opinion.
