BOREALIS, yep, result gives credence to Mueller's probe. It certainly puts to rest Trump's much repeated, bullshit mantra that the whole thing is a hoax.

"But the fact remains that Manafort volunteered to work for free for the Trump campaign .. https://www.businessinsider.com/paul-manafort-ukraine-debt-trump-campaign-unpaid-volunteer-2018-2/ .. at a time when he was deep in debt and was caught red-handed (or, more accurately, red-emailed) asking how he could use his campaign status to “get whole” with a Russian oligarch to whom he was financially beholden. So Ellis’s guidelines notwithstanding, this trial was very much about Russian collusion."

no jury could miss Manafort's "get whole" remark. See an Oct. 2017 article in The Atlantic linked here

Yep, Manafort's "How do we use to get whole" ..
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/10/emails-suggest-manafort-sought-approval-from-putin-ally-deripaska/541677/
to Kilimnik for Deripaska and others benefit sure suggests Manafort intended to use his position with Trump to fix up his Russian debts.

Good article, BOREALIS, "“a soldier’s plea.”" in Washington is no doubt a possibility since Manafort's obviously angling for a
president's help. And public appreciation made by him and/or his lawyers for the comfort and support from Trump wouldn't hurt.
