even if a multitude of parishioners leave the church is won't affect it one bit - I'm not so sure about that...Take Boston, for example - after SPOTLIGHT was broadcast (I saw the movie btw, and it was excellent!), many CC properties in MA had to be sold off for lack of $$$ support. And the younger generation does not feel the need to join organized religions.

I read recently the Pope will soon visit Ireland - the CC is losing it's grip on Ireland, witnessed by Ireland's recent vote to end the ban on abortions...
