Cut the returns down as already noted. Throw in some losses, although they are avoidable with discipline and mental stops. Excellent returns are achievable. Since you don't trade TVIX ( your statement about staying away until October) why are you even posting? Pretty obvious you don't understand TVIX as it states specifically in its prospectus that it is designed and expected to be a DAILY trading vehicle. Don't even need an algorithm. A basic understanding of bollinger bands on intraday charts with fast indicator signals and usage of volume information will do the trick nicely. Of course returns will vary from trader to trader. No front page news there. It was an example, but actually within the realm of reality.
Again, holding TVIX will create losses. As with any stock one should cut losses quickly. That is part of money management and risk/reward fundamentals.
